How To Link Your NIN To GLO, MTN, Airtel, and 9Mobile Lines

Following the directive delivered by the Nigerian communication commission (NCC)  On Tuesday the 15th of December, Nigerians are now mandated to pair their NIN (Nigerian Identity Number) with their telecom lines. This article teaches you how to get it done, as we explore a comprehensive tutorial on how to link your NIN to GLO, MTN, Airtel, and 9Mobile, which are pretty much the major telecom providers in Nigeria.

The steps to linking your NIN may vary with the different telecommunication networks; however, they all share a common trait, allowing their subscribers to pair their NIN remotely without having to visit any customer care center or call a customer care agent. The process has been designed across all telecom networks to reduce the difficulty to the barest minimum.

The different steps peculiar to the respective telecom networks have been outlined under different headings; however, before we can begin, we must know that we can retrieve our NIN number without necessarily having the NIN slip on hand. This is all thanks to a special USSD code put in place by the federal government.

How To Retrieve Your NIN Number Via a USSD Code

Please follow the steps outlined below to retrieve your NIN number:

  1. Launch the dialer on your mobile phone
  2. Dial *346# to reveal your eleven digits NIN number.
  3. Copy out the provided NIN number for use on the network of your choice.

Please note that this procedure only works with the Line you used in registering your NIN. Also, note that your NIN can also be found on your NIN slip or your plastic Nigerian identity card.
