How to Convert YouTube Music Videos to MP3

Recently, a lot of people prefer downloading their favorite songs and music videos directly from YouTube, instead of third-party websites that pirate these on their blogs. However, YouTube’s native “Download” feature doesn’t save the downloaded song or music video to your local storage. To achieve that, you’d need to use a YouTube downloader tool that lets you convert YouTube to MP3 on the go.

YouTube downloaders became a thing of recent, and there were a ton of them. Today, the demand has tilted a bit. Instead of downloading the music videos directly, many netizens would rather convert the videos to MP3 audio, and then download them in audio format; this is especially handy for downloading premiers and soundtracks from TV shows.

So, how do you convert YouTube music videos to MP3 format and have them saved to your local storage? Interestingly, just as the standard YouTube downloaders that help you grab YouTube videos and save them on your local storage (as MP4 videos), there are a handful of YouTube video to MP3 converters, and they are available for free as web apps.

No long talks, let’s go straight to the procedure:

  • Step One: Open YouTube Music or the main YouTube website and open the music video you want to download.
  • Step Two: (If you’re on PC), simply copy the link on the address bar; (if you’re on mobile), tap the share icon and select “Copy Link.”
  • Step Three: Open your web browser app (on mobile); on PC, simply open a new tab, and then open the website https://y2mate.nu/en-sDNs/ or https://ytmp3.cc/5Hcs/
  • Step Four: Paste the YouTube music video link you copied from “Step Two” into the address bar you will see on either of these sites, then click/tap on “convert.”

What More?

There are a whole lot of YouTube to MP3 converters that are available as web or mobile apps, which means you can try out as many as you wish without having to install any app on your PC or mobile phone. This procedure works for all music videos or even regular videos you will find on YouTube. Hope this helps and do not forget to drop a comment if there’s anything you aren’t sure about.

One technical correction after step five: MP3 conversion is not lossless. A higher output bitrate may reduce additional encoding loss, but it cannot restore information already removed from the source audio. I maintain this audio-quality guide with examples of the bitrate/file-size trade-off. It would also help to qualify “all music videos”: readers should work with content they are permitted to download, and a tool can still have duration or access restrictions.

The distinction in the opening paragraph between in-app offline access and a standalone file is worth keeping in the checklist at the end, too. After a permitted conversion, confirm the file exists in Downloads or Files and opens in the intended player; leaving a result page open is not a backup. I maintain Sonify, where the result link lasts 15 minutes, so I explicitly tell users to save the file before that window ends. A short note about temporary links would make this procedure more robust across web converters.
